Public appeal for information following Donegal hit and run

first_imgA member of the public has appealed for witnesses following a hit and run incident this morning (Weds) on the N15 in Donegal. Shaun McBrearty was driving his Silver Kia Cee’d on Wednesday morning sometime between 08:35 and 08:45 towards Stranorlar when a ‘smaller silver car’ driving in the opposite direction towards Killygordon struck his vehicle. It is understood that the car failed to stop following the incident, making off from the scene. Gardaí have since been alerted about the incident. However, Mr McBrearty has launched his own appeal for information. He said:  If anyone was in this area at the time and they can recall anything – or if they have a DASH CAM in their vehicle, can they please contact the Garda station in Ballybofey on 0749137740 or Letterkenny Garda station on 0749167100.“In addition, I would appeal to any businesses in the Killygordon area who would have CCTV footage from in and around this time this morning (Wednesday). “The other vehicle was a small, silver car – similar to an Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, Renault Megane or possibly even a small Volkswagen – but I am not sure of the exact make/model of the vehicle as the accident happened on a corner,” he added.“The other vehicle will be missing the driver-side wing mirror and the driver-side of the vehicle will have various scrapes, scratches and dents the full length of the vehicle.“If anyone can help in any way, it would be very much appreciated. My own vehicle has sustained substantial damage and I would like to try and identify the other vehicle that was involved in the accident.”Public appeal for information following Donegal hit and run was last modified: October 2nd, 2019 by Shaun KeenanShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more

SA gears up for 2010 with Adidas

Now global sportswear manufacturer Adidas is adding to the build-up with its newly launched Unite Mzansi Unite campaign. The project is aimed at uniting all South Africans in support of both the football tournament and national team Bafana Bafana. The word Mzansi is isiZulu for “south”, and is commonly used to refer to South Africa.Unite Mzansi Unite (UMU) is driven by the colour yellow – that is, the colour of Bafana Bafana’s official home jersey. South Africans are encouraged to step out in yellow and show their support of the home team.Adidas is the official supplier of football gear to the South African Football Association (Safa), and revealed the national team’s new World Cup kit earlier in November. Both the kit and the UMU drive were announced at this event, which took place in Newtown, Johannesburg. Former Bafana Bafana greats Marks Maponyane, Helman Mkhalele, Isaac Kungwane and Papi Khomane were there to represent the team.Support the team, sign the jerseyTo promote the campaign, the sportswear giant has created a huge replica of the official Bafana Bafana jersey, measuring 60m in length and 48m in width. The jersey is currently touring South Africa in a large, specially branded Adidas truck and will make stops in all nine host cities, as well as towns in between. The tour began at the headquarters of the South African Broadcasting Corporation in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, on 13 November, and is scheduled to end in May 2010, a month before the long-awaited tournament gets under way.About 300 stops have been planned in total. The tour visits Cape Town in December, where the final draw for the World Cup will take place alongside the unveiling of the official match ball, another Adidas design.A strong supporter of South African football, Adidas also designed the Kopanya, the official match ball of the 2009 Confederations Cup, which is viewed as a dress rehearsal for the World Cup.Adidas South Africa MD Gavin Cowley said that like the Kopanya, the World Cup ball had a name, but it would be kept secret for a while longer.“The World Cup official ball will be truly South African in colour and design,” he said.A part of historyAfter Cape Town the jersey heads to Port Elizabeth, Durban, Nelspruit, Kimberley, Rustenburg, Polokwane and Pretoria, ending its journey in Johannesburg.Deborah Miller, Adidas South Africa’s senior communications manager and UMU campaign head, said the call had gone out to all South Africans to show their support for the national team by signing the jersey when it is in their area.“By signing the giant jersey, you will become a part of history,” said Miller. “This is our World Cup – let’s host it with pride.”Fans who can’t make it in person will have the option of signing digitally online or via mobile, or at selected retail outlets. There are already over 9 500 signatures on the giant jersey.Bafana Bafana themselves signed the jersey when the tour stopped off in Bloemfontein in the Free State province a week after it left Johannesburg. The national team was there to play a friendly against Jamaica.Tour stops will coincide with other festivities such as football games on mini pitches and goal kicking competitions. A host of prizes will also be up for grabs.Supporters can keep track of the tour’s progress by following its Twitter stream. The official UMU website also provides a detailed itinerary.Advanced technologyThe design process for the new Bafana Bafana jersey took about two years, according to Safa.In addition to input from Safa and the team, Adidas South Africa played a prominent role in its creation.Football category manager at Adidas South Africa, Kevin Jooste, said: “We had to produce a jersey that unites the people of South Africa behind Bafana Bafana, and making the flag a prominent part of the jersey was the way to do it, as the flag unites all South Africans.”Two versions are available – the “TechTit” or tight-fitting look, and the “ForMotion” variant, which is designed to mould naturally to the body of the wearer, and features elements such as different combinations of fabrics for greater flexibility, and special stitching to prevent friction. Both versions come in long- and short-sleeved styles.Adidas’s TechFit Powerweb technology is also built into the shirt, which is lighter than a conventional shirt. This works by focusing energy produced by the muscles, to generate greater acceleration and power output. Adidas claims that wearing a Powerweb shirt and shorts increases a player’s power by 5.3%, with 0.8% increased endurance. The fabric also features so-called ClimaCool technology, which helps reduce heat and moisture build-up, keeping players comfortable on the pitch. This is the team’s 16th national jersey in the past 11 years. It made its debut on 14 November during another friendly match against Japan in the 2010 host city of Port Elizabeth. Fans can buy it from sports retailers around the country, and at various online stores.last_img read more

Input care and management crucial in a tight farm economy

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest The economics of the situation looking forward for commodity agriculture will require careful planning and management to maximize yields and profitability while minimizing risks and costs per bushel.“We have to make a plan to think about how to move forward including a clear business plan that includes goals, timelines, and ‘what ifs,’” said Neil Bentley, director of marketing for BASF. “Break even is in sight. We need to think about how we make smart decisions and make sure you have a stewardship plan in place so you can be successful.”Key inputs need to be managed with great care to balance return on investment, environmental stewardship and product longevity. BASF has developed strategies for field-to-field planning to protect plant health.“With plant health, the key thing we are trying to understand is how to put the right plant health application on the right acre,” said Megan Andriankaja, project manager for BASF. “Growers know every acre is different and it requires different products and different investments. We want to work with growers so they know exactly how our products work.”Weeds obviously hurt the chances of maximizing yield and BASF is moving forward with Engenia that offers a unique low-volatility, low-rate dicamba solution for dicamba-tolerant soybeans.“Controlling broadleaf weeds in a broadleaf crop has always been a challenge,A panel discussion featuring the Ryan family from Illinois and some of the key third-party advisors highlighted the value of fungicides, weed control and input management in maximizing farm profitabilitybut we now have a way to effectively control glyphosate resistant broadleaves in soybeans,” said Chad Asmus, technical marketing manager for BASF. “But you have to include multiple modes of action with a residual up front to preserve the herbicide and maximize yield potential. There are a whole host of management strategies. Some of the key practices are identifying the target weed, applying when the weeds are at the labeled height of four inches and avoiding drift.”Check out Dale Minyo’s interviews on the farm economy and how to address the challenges on the farm.BASF Dr. Megan AndriankajaBASF Chad Asmus Technical Marketing ManagerHere is a nice Ohio Department of Agriculture comparison of Dicamba-Based Herbicides highlighting proper herbicide application.Engenia and XtendimaxDo not apply this product aerially. Some DeLorme State Atlas & Gazetteers have more than 50 pages and require traveling hundreds of miles. Other DeLorme Challenges are for portions of a state, such as the South Central Alaska  DeLorme Challenge. The challenge might take geocachers months or even years.  Because of its comparatively small size, The Rhode Island DeLorme Challenge can be completed by a well-prepared geocacher in a single day. The challenge, called “Little Rhody DeLorme Challenge” (GCZK7D), was created by BBWolf+3Pigs in November of 2006.  So far, more than one hundred geocachers have logged a smiley on “Little Rhody DeLorme Challenge.”For a recent list of the other DeLorme Challenges in the United States see this bookmark. You can explore more videos on the adventure of geocaching.  Check out  the Geocaching.com Lost & Found video gallery.  Meet a family who says geocaching helps their autistic son, experience a haunted cache in Texas and find out why a U.S. Army bomb disposal technician says geocaching kept him safe in Iraq.Share with your Friends:More SharePrint Related”Souvenirs” A Geocaching.com Lost & Found VideoNovember 2, 2010In “Community”Geocaching Bucket List: Greatest Hits EditionMarch 6, 2016In “Community”10/10/10 – Be Part of a Worldwide Geocaching Record AttemptOctober 6, 2010In “Community”last_img read more

If the Government wants the country to recover from this quickly, it has to make its ongoing investigation public. And also take action against those responsible for the security lapse.Cuttak Abesh MishraThe incident is yet another evidence of the blatant breach of the nation’s secu-rity, both internal and external. NamboodripadThe dropping of arms is critical from the point of view of the imminent general election. It is a question of the internal security of the country. The elections are a critical and vulnerable time for the nation as has been evidenced in the past.
