Gor set for 12-day Narok pre-season camp

We will have three trainings each day, team talks and I believe this will help us achieve the target of being a strong team,” Kerr told Capital Sport.Gor had initially planned to have their pre-season camp outside the country but have since vacated the plans owing to the exit of their sponsors which has left their bank accounts yawning, according to officials. While in Narok, Gor will play friendly matches against league new boys Wazito and Kakamega Homeboyz on top of two other locals clubs.Kerr says he has been impressed with the spirit shown by his players in the last one week of training and is optimistic as they take the gear higher for the next 12 days, he is going to see more hunger and determination.“I came in here in July and had to work with what was there which we did well. Now I have the opportunity to start fresh and I am really looking forward to the new season. I know the expectation on me is higher than last year and I am prepared for it,” said the British coach.Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr during a training session at the Camp Toyoyo Ground on September 7, 2017.Photo/TIMOTHY OLOBULUHe has likened the team to English premier League runaway leaders Manchester City who are constantly under pressure, but says he trusts his squad not to crack.“Everybody wants to beat Manchester City now and I think that’s the same with us. It becomes harder but I believe that will bring out the best in us,” the tactician further noted.Biggest on his mind as the year begins is the CAF Champions League with Gor kicking off their campaign at home to Equatorial Guinean side Leones Vegetarianos Fútbol Club and if they win they will square out with the winner between Esperance du Tunis and Mauritania’s ASAC Concorde in the first round.“I am very positive in this and I believe that it is a possibility. I have watched a lot of African football and I know that in our best element, it is an achievable target to get to the group stages. I am just hoping that the players can have as much belief as me,” Kerr noted. He added; “We can match anyone in the continent and beat them. I think we demonstrated that very well with Everton.”Meanwhile, two of Kerr’s core players from 2017 might not be part of his team this season. Kenneth Muguna and skipper Musa Mohammed are both linked with a move to KF Tirana in Albania. While Mohammed’s contract lapsed last week and leaves as a free agent, Muguna’s move has been topsy-turvy as there hasn’t been an agreement between Tirana and Gor with the player still remaining with three years on his contract.Newly signed Gor Mahia midfielder Kenneth Muguna controls the ball in training under pressure from Meddie Kagere at the Camp Toyoyo Ground in Nairobi’s Jericho Estate on January 12, 2017.PHOTO/Timothy OlobuluThere had been an alleged 40,000-dollar transfer fee agreement, but nothing official as yet.Kerr is however against the move to the Albanian league, though he is more or less resigned to the fact that both players will leave.“To be honest I don’t think I will bank on Kenneth, he seems to have his mind made up already. Musa has been at the club for over five years and I think it is good for him to seek a new challenge. But to be honest, with all due respect I don’t think Albania is an upgrade,” the outspoken tactician further noted. But he is content with the kind of squad he has put together, saying they will compete for titles even with the exit of the two.Gor kick off their season on January 28 with the season opening Super Cup against arch rivals AFC Leopards before switching attention to the Champions League.0Shares0000(Visited 1 times, 1 visits today)last_img read more

How To Simplify Your Finances For The New Year

Can You Afford It?December 20, 2016In “Budgeting”How to Free Yourself from Financial StressJuly 3, 2019In “Financial Goals”How to Kick-Start Your Retirement Fund in the New YearJanuary 1, 2019In “Financial Planning” As we enter the new year, it’s time to reflect back and think about how we want to do things differently. There are lots of ways to make positive changes for the upcoming year, but starting with foundational elements like personal finances can have a ripple effect across the rest of your life.Let’s start off the new year in a great way by simplifying your finances with these helpful tips.#1 Give Yourself Permission To Let Go Of Sunk Costs And Move ForwardYou may have made some decisions that didn’t go as well as you thought they would, or started a hobby that instead of bringing you enjoyment, brought you an endless pit of expenses. In the new year, allow yourself to let go of those burdens and start fresh—focus on doing what feels right for you right now, even if it means starting from scratch. It might sting a bit to take a brief loss on a project you started but don’t want to finish, but it’s better than allowing it to drain additional resources well into 2018.#2 Automate Your Savings PlanThe best way to make sure you hit a savings rate goal is to automate the process of saving itself. If you earn consistent paychecks from a job or contract gig, set up an automatic transfer for your desired amount. That way, it will appear as though you have less to spend and make budgeting easier. If you have a variable income from month to month, choose a percentage that you want to save and take that much out each time you receive a payment. For example:If you want to save 10% of your income, transfer out $100 if you get a check for $1,000 or $1,000 if you get a check for $10,000.This way, your savings rate will stay consistent and scale with your income each month.#3 Only Use One or Two Methods Of SpendingThe best way to keep track of all your spending throughout the year is to consolidate where you have to keep track of it. If you have a credit card or two that you like to use for cashback or rewards, choose what kind of spending you’ll do on each one and stick to it throughout the year.If you have a passion project or a side hustle, it’s really helpful to separate out those expenses from your personal ones as well. Keeping those purchases on a second card or checking account really gives you a up-to-the-minute look at how things are going.Doing so helps you stay on top of your profitability and make sure you’re not overspending each month.#4 Use An Aggregator To Get Everything In One PlaceOf course, using a financial dashboard like Mint.com allows you to see everything in one place and efficiently track your spending, saving, and make sure you’re on track with your money goals all year long. You won’t have to second-guess whether you’re staying on track with your goals, because all the information you need will be syndicated in one convenient place for you. It’s really hard to improve what you don’t track, so make sure to use a dashboard to keep everything under a watchful eye.#5 Review And Assess Monthly Recurring ExpensesWhen repeated often, small expenses really do add up. Take a look at your spending over the last year and total up all of the monthly-billed services you had during that time. Add up the total spent and determine whether you feel that you got your money’s worth during that time.See which recurring expenses you may be able to lessen or eliminate completely and automatically spend less each month. It’s easy for charges like these to get buried in credit card and banking statements, so take some time to make sure you’re not paying for anything you don’t want or need anymore.Really, simplifying your finances is all about consolidating spending, tracking information, and letting go of sunk costs so that you can move forward with your life and make solid progress towards your financial goals this year. The less you have to think about it on a regular basis, the more you can focus on the other things you want to do every day. Post navigationlast_img read more
