TOWN OF TOMPKINS, N.Y. (WBNG) — Authorities in Delaware County made a felony arrest in the town of Tompkins on Sept. 16. The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to a report of a possible trespass in progress at a remote camp off State Highway 268 in the afternoon. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says it arrested 33-year-old Edwin R. McGraw II of Hancock, N.Y. with burglary in the 2nd degree, grand larceny in the 4th degree (firearm), and criminal mischief in the 4th degree. When it became dark, deputies spotted McGraw with a flashlight moving toward the camp. The deputies got into “tactical position” in the darkness and waiting for McGraw to pass by before arresting him. Authorities note McGraw was arrested without incident. On scene, deputies say they found evidence of an on-going use of the camp and the theft of firearms. Deputies continued to gather evidence into the evening. Later, deputies say they recovered a shotgun McGraw stole from a residence with the help of the property care taker. The sheriff’s office says McGraw was arraigned and remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility pending his appearance in the town of Tompkins Court on a later date.
