first_imgSTUNNING IN BLACK AND WHITE For a recent film festival in Mumbai, Kareena Kapoor Khan wore an outfit from Judy Zhang’s Resort 2020 collection. The structured shoulder on the neck-plunging bodice gives this ensemble a power punch. In fact, if she’d opted for the tried-andtested bold lips and high ponytail styling formula, not only would it give her out-and-out girl boss’ vibes but we would also be highly disappointed. Thankfully, Kareena’s stylist has softened this look with that multi-layered neckpiece featuring cute charms, as well as a pink pout and side-parted tresses. We love this look!BEIGE ISN’T ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL With every new league of actors, we expect a few of them to turn into the It-girls and boys and impart us major styling lessons. Sadly, we can’t name even one from the current crop of stars who do not refrain from playing it safe. Case in point: Ananya Pandey. Her tux-esque Ulyana Sergeenko beige mini dress with a belt-like detailing on the waist and embroidered sleeves is nice overall. But we can’t say the same about the styling midparted hair, ankle-strapped heels and a bright pop of lip colour. Let’s hope she experiments with her looks soon.KEEPING IT RETRO While attending a film festival in Mumbai, Deepika Padukone was seen in a one-shouldered polka dotted dress with an open slit by Egyptian designer Marmar Halim. We love how retro the overall vibe is. The centre-parted hair that’s tousled at the ends and back-combed as well as the eyeliner traced till the end of the upper lash line. Nothing to complain about here honestly, though the voluminous dress just looks too much for a casual event like this festival. We must mention that it’s nice to see Bollywood stylists sourcing from global designers who not many of us have even heard of.advertisementALL BLACK AGAIN If we earned a penny for every single time an actor worked an all black everything’ look in Bollywood, we’d be millionaires by now. Of course, that doesn’t go against the fact that Mrunal Thakur wearing a Massimo Dutti pleated A-line skirt and a turtle-neck top looks nice here. We think the new hairdo gives her quite an edge. That said, the look would have been better with a pair of less-chunkier heels.RUFFLES & SHIMMER In another all-black sighting, Alia Bhatt was seen in an Osman ruffled leather top that she paired with a pair of metallic spot trousers from Topshop and semimesh black back-strap sandals. We think Alia looks great as far as the makeup and hair is concerned. But we have to mention our dislike for that pair of ill-fitting trousers. Also, while the top would have looked great with a skirt, it just seems a bad match with these trousers.THIS IS POLKA SEASONSporting a Lovebirds’ polka-dot dress in blue that she teamed with a pair of open-toe flats, Kangana Ranaut was seen at the airport. We love that despite the outfit being so casual, Kangana amps up the look with not just her styling but also her demeanour. Also, she was spotted in the same dress in April during a visit to our city. It is nice to see celebrities turning more relatable by not just sporting homegrown labels but also by ditching the will wear it only once’ approach.SHE EXUDES POWER We love a nice pantsuit, but this one by Parineeti Chopra falls in the segment titled outdated’. With the stark gold belt that she’s cinched her waist with, and the excess sheen of the pantsuit, we think Parineeti looks like she’s gone back to the bad side of the ’80s. Must we add that the smokey eyes are doing no good to this look at all!SIMPLE YET PRETTY You can count on Sonam Kapoor to either give you a dramatic look or one that’s simple yet stunning. This time she was spotted in a pistachio Jodi skirt that she teamed up with a white top. She’s accessorised it perfectly with a pair of white slingback heels and a quilted Chanel bag. Love the chunky retro cat-eyed sunglasses and how she’s tied that sleek scarf to her low ponytail.FALLEN OFF THE SKY Star motifs are so long gone we don’t remember anyone wearing it in a long time. By all means these are cute, but pairing it with a metallic mini skirt calls for a major fail. Along with the white pumps and the barrettes, Janhvi Kapoor’s look brings back memories of birthday dressing during school. Cute back then! Definitely not cool when a twenty-something’s sporting it.advertisementlast_img
